On April 22, 2022, Attorney Richard A. Orona, of Orona Garcia & Duran, PC testified before the Colorado General Assembly, Senate Judiciary Committee regarding House Bill 22-1067 which clarifies changes to ensure prompt bond hearings in municipal court.  Specifically, the bill provides the following:

“Under current law, when a defendant is detained in jail on a municipal hold, the defendant must receive a hearing before the municipal court within 2 calendar days, excluding Sundays and federal holidays.  Beginning January 1, 2023, the bill requires the hearing to be held within 48 hours after municipal court receives notice that the defendant is being held solely on a municipal hold.”

HB22-1067 passed out of the Judiciary Committee and is not in the Appropriations Committee before advancing to the Senate for full consideration.
